If you want to rent a boat, reserve it ahead of time at Lake Ocoee Inn. Don't be afraid to go rafting if it is in season! Most of the time you can take a 3 hour trip for around $25 or $30 per person. You can learn all about the Olympic Gold Medal Winning river. While you are in the park, be sure to check out the Ocoee Whitewater Center and its environs. My preferred camping is at Greasy Creek at the bottom of the mountain, though, the campsites are along the creek, and it is a smaller campground so it tends to be a bit less traveled. Along the mountain there are fantastic spots to hike, and the campground has a big lake suitable for swimming (although I would prefer swimming in Parksville Lake myself).
Along the lake you can see one of TVA's most inspired projects.įollow the forestry service signs up towards the Chilhowee Campground. Don't miss this gift from God! If you are driving through take the afternoon (or morning) to drive up 64 through the Cherokee National Forest.
